life change as we love God, love people and serve the world.
You might be wondering...
Where are you?
2469 118th Ave., Allegan, MI. We are located 4 miles outside Allegan on 118th Avenue - which runs parallel to and just north of HWY 222. You can get a map and other contact information here.
What time do you meet?
We meet on Sundays at 9:30 AM. Service usually lasts 60-75 minutes. During the school year there is also Sunday School classes for all ages from 11:00-11:45 AM.
How early should I get there?
Arriving 10-15 minutes early gives you enough time to park, get inside, grab a cup of coffee and talk with friends (or make some friends). Children are registered upstairs in the foyer - you may want to come fifteen minutes early to take care of children's registrations. Infants (0-2 years) are registered in our beautiful nursery. You may also ask for a brief tour of our children's area if you would like.
Where should I park?
You may park in the paved lots on either side (east or west) of the church.
What should I wear?
You should wear whatever you are comfortable in. If that's jeans, dress pants, shorts, a dress, a suit, over-alls—it doesn't matter. We believe that your relationship with God is something that happens all day, every day. It's not a requirement to get "dressed up." If you'd like to dress up you certainly can, but you're also welcome to wear what you wear every day.
What is the service like?
Although they may not happen in the same order every time, each Sunday will include music, teaching, and prayer. We typically stand up to sing. The words to the songs will be projected onto a video screen. It's OK if you don't know the tunes; the songs were new to us once, too. Pastor Marc will teach using verses from the Bible, personal experiences, and the occasional prop or video.
We also take time to collect "tithes and offerings" which is our opportunity to recognize that all things come from God. We have a generous congregation and visitors should not feel obligated to give.
Will you embarrass me in any way?
We certainly hope not! We don't ask visitors to stand up or raise their hand. We will ask you to fill out a connection card so you can tell us how you'd like us to communicate with you in the future. Fill out as much of the card as you feel comfortable doing. We do have a welcome center that may greet you and will help you register your children for the nursery or J.A.M.
Allegan Wesleyan is not a large church, and our regular attenders may "recognize" that you're a visitor just because they haven't seen you at church before. So, someone may come up to you before or after the service and say how glad they are to see you. They may shake your hand, pat your back and encourage you to come back next week. They're not trying to single you out or pressure you. They are just genuinely glad that you came to discover more about God and what He has planned for you!
Should I bring a Bible?
Pastor Marc will use the Bible in all of the services. Key verses will be projected on the video screen as well as key points. If you have a Bible, please bring it with you. If you don't have a Bible, that's okay. We also have Bibles you may use.
Do you have "Sunday School" for adults?
Yes, during the school year, we have Sunday School for all ages from 11:00-11:45 AM. Currently there are two Sunday School classes running for adults. A Bible class is taught by Richard Oakley and a "God-Sightings" Bible reading class will be happening in the sanctuary through 2010.
What happens between the service and Sunday School?
We usually spend 10-15 minutes with coffee, punch and treats between the service and Sunday School time. Depending on the weather and circumstances we may do this in our cafe or outside the east doors.
What if I have questions before or after the service?
Pastor Marc or someone wearing a name badge would be happy to help you with any question or need you might want to share. You can also stop by the Welcome Center. Just ask!
Where will my infant/toddler go?
The nursery is available for children from birth through two years of age in our new spacious and well lit nursery. We take the safety of children very seriously and have clear nursery policies, including background checks on anyone working with a minor. We hope you find our nursery to be a clean, organized and secure place for your child.
When you drop off your child you will be given a randomly numbered tag. Only you, with this tag, may pick up your child after the service.
Where will my elementary child go?
Children (ages 3 through 5th grade) remain with their parents until the announcement time during service. At that time they are dismissed to the children's "JAM" (Jesus and Me) program downstairs. As with our nursery we take safety seriously during this program and many policies are in place to protect your child.
Where will my teen go?
We hope our service adequately communicates to people from a variety of age groups - including teens. Pastor Marc has a history of youth work and attempts to communicate effectively in his messages to young and old.

What is a Wesleyan Worldview?
Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all men and women who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life. We believe that those who receive new life in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord’s Spirit. We believe in the Bible and seek to establish our faith and actions on its teaching. We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and that the purpose of the church is to tell the world about Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.
